Thanks to long serving volunteer

2 March 2017

Friends and colleagues gathered in Ballincollig YMCA to say thanks to Heather Faris who has been a long serving volunteer with the YMCA. Heather probably holds some sort of YMCA record for the number of committees she has served on since coming to Cork in 1988. These have included Cork YMCA Board, Cobh YMCA Advisory Committee, Cobh Drugs Advisory Group, Co Cork Standing Committee, National Executive and more recently as chair of the Vocational Training Advisory Group. If that wasn’t enough, she has been on numerous interview panels as well as playing a crucial role within the FETAC Quality Assurance system for STEP. Heather also played a key role in the piloting and eventual mainstreaming of a Youth Work Skills course with Scoil Stiofan Naofa which was developed as a partnership with the YMCA. Heather has always brought honesty, invaluable insights and compassion to her many roles. Her friends in the YMCA wish her and John every blessing as they begin the next chapter of their lives in N Ireland.
