2 positions: One based from Lisburn YMCA and the other from Larne YMCA
YMCA/YWCA m-power Peace IV Youth for Peace Project requires staff to deliver a programme of personal development, good relations and citizenship. The positions are full time funded by Peace IV through the Special European Union Body until the end of August 2021.

Salary: £24,343.00 p.a. gross.

The Project worker will, as part of a team, have responsibility for the delivery of the m-power youth programme.

YMCA STEP Tutor / Youth Worker Cork City (Maternity Leave Cover)

The role of the Tutor/ Youth worker will deliver various modules to young people aged between 17-25. The role involves the delivery of QQI modules using Google Classroom and the candidate will work with a small team of other tutors. The post will be 2 days / week, based in Cork City, headquartered in YMCA Cork (11 Marlboro Street). The post holder will report directly to the STEP Coordinator (Cork City).

Duties will Include:
– Delivering modules as outlined in the YMCA Step manual
– Involvement in the delivery of QQI level 4 in Employment Skills or General
Learning
– Contribution to the ongoing development of the STEP programme.
– Assist in the YMCA STEP Evaluation process.
– Responsible for daily record sheets, candidate portfolios and presentation of assessment materials in the QQI modules delivered.

Essential:
– A Third level qualification in the area of youth/community work, education, social sciences or other related field.
– Work Experience (a minimum of one years’ experience working with young people in a similar environment).
– Good Administrative Skills
– Good understanding of the group work process

The post is a part time position for 14 hours over 2 days 9.00am to 5.00pm for a six month period starting in Jan 2021 to July 2021. The Salary Scale YMCA A1 for Part Time tutor applies (pro rata).

Volunteer Opportunity: YMCA Chaplaincy Programme

YMCA Ireland is developing a new volunteer chaplain role and programme. We are piloting the role in three of our national centres, Cork, Dublin and Greenhill, Newcastle Co. Down. The volunteers will be interviewed, trained (theologically and practically) and supported throughout their time.

Our hope is that the chaplains will provide for the pastoral needs of service users, volunteers and staff, assisting them to understand more fully life’s events as they relate to their spiritual & emotional well-being that promotes their flourishing as people. The chaplains will also play a role with the YMCA trustees in relation to how the mission is reflected in practice and will connect in with external networks e.g. churches.

Support Officer (p/t)
for our ROI operations, based in Cork City YMCA (11 Marlboro Street)

The post involves providing support services for the YMCA, in the areas of Office Administration, Building and Resource Administration, Personnel & Policy Support, Communications Support and Finance Support.

The post holder will be based in Cork City, and will have responsibility to support YMCA work in five centres (Clonakilty, Ballincollig, Cork City, Cobh and West Dublin). In each centre, there is a Senior Staff member taking overall responsibility for staff, programme and premises, and the Support Officer will provide support and coordination.

The successful candidate will have a relevant third level qualification or equivalent and have at least two years’ experience working in a charity, youth work or office management context. The post holder will be expected to be in sympathy with the aims and purposes of the organisation.

This will be a part time post (17.5 hours / week). 
The salary scale for the post will be YMCA Scale A4 €33,181 (pro rata).

Youth Advocacy Facilitator (p/t)
for our Cork County Comhairle ná nÓg project

The post involves co-delivery of youth advocacy facilitation (Comhairle ná nÓg) to young people in the Cork County area, supporting them to advocate for the needs of their peers on a variety of issues and objectives. This will be done by ensuring effective networking both between YMCA programmes and services and external agencies. The person will be working 1 days per week, office based in YMCA Cork (Marlboro Street), but holding regular meetings in Cork County Hall and doing regular outreach to Cork County area schools and organisations.

Comhairle na nÓg are child and youth councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies. In light of the fact that Comhairle na nÓg is for young people under the age of 18 and who therefore have no other voting mechanism to have their voice heard, Comhairle na nÓg is designed to enable young people to have a voice on the services, policies and issues that affect them in their local area. YMCA Greenhill are recruiting for a Lead Instructor / Technical Advisor – Heights (part-time 1.5days/wk)

The postholder will work along with senior management to support the development, training and assessment of greenhill outdoor learning instructors specifically in heights activities and to advise on safe and appropriate operating procedures.

The successful candidate will hold, as a minimum, Mountain Instructor Award (MIA) or equivalent and have a minimum of 10 years experience facilitating climbing activities.  They will also have a sound knowledge of risk management and informed on current good practice.
