Ivan trained as a post-primary teacher, and after a period in research, he joined Cork YMCA as General Secretary. Since 1989 Ivan has had various roles within National Council

Tom began his career in the Tourism Industry and went on to join YMCA Ireland in 2006. He has extensive experience in training & development and managing quality control systems. His primary role is running the YMCA STEP programme across 5 centres in the Republic of Ireland.

Kenny Baxter

Greenhill YMCA Director

Kenny worked in outdoor education in both the statutory and voluntary sectors before joining the YMCA in 1995 as a community relations worker. He took up his current post as Greenhill YMCA Centre Director in 2001. His primary role is overseeing the ongoing development of the YMCA outdoor residential centre

Training & Policy Officer

Michele qualified as a professional youth worker in 1993 . After graduating she worked in both the Statutory and Voluntary sectors, before joining YMCA Ireland in September 1999 as the PAKT Ireland (Parents and Kids Together) Development Officer. Michele has also held the role of Global Youth Work Officer in YMCA Ireland, before her current post as Training and Policy Officer with the primary role of supporting the development of training initiatives to assist the capacity of local associations to deliver effective programmes.

Greater Dublin Developent Officer

Brian qualified as a post-primary school teacher and after several years in teaching and youth work joined YMCA Ireland in 1995 as Development Officer for the Greater Dublin Area. His work has included establishing YMCA work in Tallaght, International work and supporting local associations.

Chriszine Backhouse

Chriszine Backhouse

Programme Development Officer RoI

Chriszine worked in the field of Community Development through the arts before obtaining the qualification of Creative Arts Therapist in 2007. Her work in the YMCA focuses on building resilience, in part, by providing meaningful opportunities for children and young people to contribute to and be valued by their communities. Since 2008, she has held the post of Programme Development officer for the Parents And Kids Together programme and the Youth Leadership programme.

Gillian McClay

NI Training Coordinator

Gillian has worked as a qualified youth worker in both the statutory and voluntary sectors for many years in different settings. She joined YMCA Ireland as Training Coordinator in August 2014. Her role includes maintaining quality assurance for accredited courses, developing the training programme with volunteers at Greenhill YMCA and supporting local associations.

John Peacock

John previously worked for YMCA Ireland from 1985-95. He left to study theology and worked for PCI in youth & family work until 2004, when he moved to Youth Link as Community Relations Manager. In recent years at Youth Link he directed their degree in Youth & Community Work and Applied Theology. John's primary role is to support local associations in N.I.
